The SCBA was formed in 1950 (was previously called Nambour and District Badminton Association and Maroochy Badminton Association) then in 1968 was finally called the SUNSHINE COAST BADMINTON ASSOCIATION.

Badminton is a fun sport, easy to learn which caters for all ages and abilities and is played all year round. SCBA has 4 badminton clubs (from Cooroy to Caboolture) affiliated with SCBA that WELCOME NEW PLAYERS of all levels of ability to their social sessions. SCBA is affiliated with Queensland Badminton Association

SCBA provides a facility of a very high standard that is purpose built with 4 courts with World Federation approved mats and LED lights on the Sunshine Coast. It is one of the best in SE QLD for our members of the community to participate in regardless of their age, gender, culture and economic background.

SCBA is responsible to promote the growth of badminton on the Sunshine Coast through providing recreational and competitive badminton sessions and hosting interclub team events between the affiliated clubs. SCBA also provide sessions and events to encourage juniors and non-members of the community to participate in and take up badminton. SCBA organise approx. 6 Closed Team Events throughout the year that are very popular and are always welcoming new players to join. SCBA Closed Team Events are open to players who are a member of one of SCBA’s 4 clubs.

The Sunshine Coast Badminton Centre is located at 98 Coronation Avenue, Nambour. (Entry is opposite Stanley St, dirt driveway next to bus stop). Nambour is situated 100km north of Brisbane, Qld and is a 15min walk from the Nambour train station.
